Over the years we have published several digital copies of recordings from our archives online. Now we're working to make these even more accessible. By going to our listening station, you can search these files to find recordings of a particular composer, work, performer or instrumentation. As we populate the database further, the selection of available files will increase. Please contact us for your input about suggestions and improvements.
Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound started with the collection of Arne Dørumsgaard, but has gradually grown through several large and small donations. For each of the largest subcollections we present the background of the collection and material relating to the collections and their origin.
Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound is happy to receive analog audio material from private collections and individuals. If you have a stack of LPs, 78 records or tapes gathering dust that you do not want to throw away, you can donate them to the Institute. The focus of the institute is preservation and accessibility, and we can preserve old recordings, while making them accessible to a wider audience.
If you do not have records to donate, but want to support the Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound, you will find information on how to donate on these pages
