International work and co-operation

From the IASA Annual Conference, September 9th-14th. 2006 in Mexico

 

 

IASA

The Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound is a member of IASA (International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives), and has been internationally acknowledged through this organization. This is giving the Institute world wide contacts.

Director Jacqueline von Arb was elected Vice President of IASA Executive Board for the period 2005-2008 and was reelected for the period 2008-11.  Her responsibilites are membership development and outreach. 

Per Dahl serves as the Norwegian contact of the IASA Nordic Branch. A nordic meeting is scheduled for 2009 in Finland.

CCAAA

Co-ordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Association (CCAAA) is an cooperative organ between the 8 major Audiovisual Archives Associations, coordinating their efforts for the development of public policy on issues of importance to professional audiovisual archivists. 

Director Jacqueline von Arb was asked to represent the CCAAA at the  3rd UNESCO Memory of the World conferance, in Canberra, Australia in February 2008, to present the CCAAA's view on the MoW programme. Find the link to that presentation below. 

UNESCO

UNESCO is important in the struggle to save the cultural heritage of the world and has its own section dealing with the sound heritage. Jacqueline von Arb acts as IASA's vice representative in UNESCO matters. As such, she attended the UNESCO Memory of the World International Advisory Committee meeting in Pretoria in June 2007, as IASA's expert advisor on audiovisual matters for the Committee. 

UNESCO declared the 27th of October as the annual World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, and Director Jacqueline von Arb participated in the Working Committee for the first celebration of the UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage.
