Preservation
One of the Institute's main tasks is the preservation and storage of fragile and aging audio material.
We constantly strive to find a good balance between access and preservation. A large part of our collection is placed in climate controlled magazines, but we also keep a considerable part of the collection readily available in our exhibition areas.
Our future plans for preservation include the digitalization of key parts of the collection.
MemNor -
Digitisation for Preservation and Access
MemNor AS is a company established as a joint venture between the Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound and the already established and renowned Belgian company Memnon Audio Archiving Services SA.
The new company will be offering offering audio archiving service (a.o. digitisation) targeting archival institutions and audio collections that have long-term preservation needs.
We aim to start production in January 2007, but do contact us ahead of time for information, or for planning the digitisation of your collection.
